Prince Hall Masonic Grand Lodge

Located on Auburn Avenue in Atlanta’s historic Sweet Auburn neighborhood, the Prince Hall Masonic Grand Lodge is one of the city’s most significant sites of African American history. Completed in 1940 under the leadership of civic leader and Grand Master John Wesley Dobbs, the building has served as an important gathering place for Atlanta’s Black community for generations.

Throughout its history, Prince Hall has been home to several influential organizations and businesses, including WERD, the first Black-owned and operated radio station in the United States, and the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC). Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. also maintained an office in the building during his work with the SCLC.

Following an extensive restoration, Prince Hall continues its legacy as an important piece of Atlanta’s architectural and cultural history. The French Steel Company was proud to contribute custom steel doors to the restoration, helping preserve the character of this historic building while supporting its renewed use for generations to come.
