Featuring contemporary Southern cuisine, the Fifth Group Restaurants recently opened its newest South City Kitchen location at Avalon. The French Steel elements featured prominently in the restaurant are the entrance vestibule, a 20’ long x 9’ high refrigerated wine room – with separate entrances and temperatures for the red and white wine collections, and oversized sliding doors to acoustically isolate the private dining room as needed.
For this project, several designs were requested for an elegant open floor plan feel to complement a contemporary setting. Customers are met by two large architectural steel doors at the restaurant’s entryway. These custom steel and glass doors feature custom hardware in a style that is seen again once inside within the space’s design.
Once inside the restaurant, the vast wine selection is put on display using a thermally broken steel and wine cellar. This wine cellar is temperature controlled to accommodate the desired cooling of different types of wine: 55 degrees for red, 43 degrees for white.
Further inside, the restaurant offers a private event room which is a space separated from the remainder of the restaurant by sliding French Steel frame doors. This functionality of the structure allows the space to either be opened up to the main dining area for large events or closed off for an intimate setting of small parties.
